Popeyes is opening a new location in Miami, Oklahoma on Route 66, and Mayor Bless Parker expects it to generate increased sales tax revenue for the city.

The "Roads, River, Rooms and Reels" exhibit opens on March 14 and highlights the transportation, entertainment and community life connected to Route 66.

Springfield is home to parts of three alignments of Route 66, including the original alignment from 1926 to 1930.

The annual Route 66 festival in August will no longer include a parade. Instead, it will invite participants to join open cruises on both evenings.

The car show will then be followed by an evening screening of the Pixar film Cars, which is celebrating its 20th year alongside the 100th anniversary of Route 66.
