Apple announced that Tim Cook will step down as CEO. The tech company said Monday in a news release that Cook will step down as chief executive officer effective Sept. 1. He has been CEO since 2011. Cook will become executive chairman of Apple’s board and will remain CEO through the summer to ensure a smooth transition for John Ternus,
Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, will step down after nearly 15 years in the role and will become the company’s executive chairman in September. He will be succeeded by John Ternus, the head of Apple’s hardware engineering.
