We have identified two main areas of peat fires near Cape Conran within the current burnt area that have a combined total area of approx 80 hectares. Unmanned aircraft, drones, are performing daily flights detecting hot spots and mapping out the fire edge. Residents and visitors will continue to see crews and heavy machinery working and monitoring conditions of the peat fires. Trenches have been dug around the fire edge as a means of strengthening containment lines. Smoke is visible in the area
