These photographs show the streets of Warsaw and the ruins and flames over the Warsaw Ghetto. They were taken in April or May of 1943 during the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, as the Germans began burning the ghetto block by block. The Uprising was ended on May 16, with the ghetto's liquidation. The photographs by Rudolf Damec, a Polish man living in Warsaw, were rediscovered just a few years ago by his granddaughter.
