Focusing on the Yup'ik culture for the month of July, we have this unique piece that was donated to ANHC. Two of the artists, Shirley Hootch & Jen Angaiak are Yup'ik. The third artist, Susan Ringstad Emery is Inupiaq. This piece was a collaboration of artists living in different parts of the United States who would add their own style then ship the piece off to the next artist. The circle and dot motif are used to represent the universe. The baleen and ivory are generally Inupiaq. #CulturalExcha
